Holly Valance is Taken

Australian actress Holly Valance is on a roll right now. It ain’t quite as tasty as a multi-grain roll with ham, cheese, bit of fresh lettuce, some canned tomato and pineapple to boot… but it’s a roll all the same. The former “Neighbours” star cum “Prison Break” co-star cum big-screen film star (granted, “D.O.A” only did reasonable business at one theater in Uganda, and only then because tickets were free) seems to have no shortage of offers at the moment. Word is, she’s accepted one of them – a role opposite Maggie Grace and Liam Neeson in the Luc Besson produced “Taken”.

The Pierre Morel directed pic tells of a ex-soldier (Liam Neeson) who discovers his daughter (Maggie Grace) has been kidnapped by slave masters (sorry, nothing about ‘sex’ slaves in the synopsis here) in Europe. No word if Valance is the one holding the whip... or taking a whip.

Valance also recently appeared in the comedy blunder “Pledge This!” opposite Paris Hilton, and was recently rumoured to be up for a part – probably just someone looking to gain pre-finance publicity for the film, in an effort to get it bankrolled, I’m guessing – in the Donald Bradman biopic, “The Bloody Ashes”.

Scarlett Johansson has topped Playboy's annual 25 Sexiest Celebrities list. The curvaceous actress was named clear favourite by Hugh Hefner's adult magazine, seeing off competition from Angelina Jolie, Beyonce Knowles and Pamela Anderson.

The magazine writes: "Scarlett Johansson is the apex of beauty and sensuality - from her porcelain skin to her fully feminine figure to her mysterious charisma, which is at once palpable and indefinable." While Playboy make it clear that Scarlett is their No1 babe, the other 24 hotties are listed in no particular order.

Names to make it onto the list include Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton and Sin City star Jessica Alba. Meanwhile, Scarlett is being tipped to play adult movie superstar Jenna Jameson in a movie adaptation of her autobiography 'How To Make Love Like A Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale'. Jenna revealed her admiration for the curvy actress last month. She said: "We're looking at Scarlett Johansson. She's my choice. I think she's beautiful."

If John Mayer and Jessica Simpson aren't dating, they sure act like they are. "She's a lovely woman, and I'm glad to be with her," is what he told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet - in Japanese. And later that night, around 9:15 p.m., Mayer was the third celeb to hit the Sony-BMG Grammy after-party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. He and a posse of a dozen men made a beeline for one of the four private outdoor cabanas. Mayer immediately sat down, started texting on his phone and made a brief phone call. About a half hour later, Simpson popped in.

She and Mayer went deep in conversation, and Simpson made a sweet pouty face. And then it happened. I saw Mayer kiss Simpson tenderly on the cheek. They parted ways, and Simpson chatted with her sister, Ashlee. But few minutes later, she and Mayer were talking. This time, Mayer was stroking her back. Now, this certainly wasn't the place for one-on-one time. The lovebirds were soon joined by Simpson's dad, Joe, and then American Idol-er Chris Daughtry. Despite all the interruptions, Mayer kept at it, singing Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well" to Simpson. Let's consider this Mayer and Simpson's coming out, of sorts. It wasn't a red carpet appearance, but they're certainly not hiding their romance. Dozens - and I mean dozens - of people were watching. Anna Nicole Smith, the small-town Texas girl turned Playboy Playmate who became a tabloid fixture while fighting all the way to the US Supreme Court over the estate of her elderly billionaire husband, has died in Florida at the age of 39. Smith, a statuesque blonde who also gained fame as an model for Guess jeans, died at a local hospital shortly after she was reported needing medical help at her Florida hotel room by a private nurse, police said.

Authorities said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death. Her sudden death came just five months after Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, died in the Bahamas three days after the birth of her daughter. "I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," her attorney, Ronald Rale, said. "I don't know anything further. (Her lawyer and husband) Howard (K. Stern) obviously is speechless and grieving."

Seminole tribal fire rescue and Hollywood fire rescue workers tried to revive her at her hotel, said Michael Bloom, president of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2.10pm, local time, and died there, police said. Smith had been ordered to have her five-month-old baby girl undergo a paternity test as part of a lawsuit by an ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead. Birkhead sued Smith in October, demanding she have the paternity test because he believed he was the father of the girl.

Smith had said her lawyer, Howard K. Stern, was the father of the baby. Smith was born Vickie Lynn Hogan and raised in the small Texas town of Mexia, 130km south of Dallas. She grew up emulating screen legend Marilyn Monroe. She met elderly oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall while dancing at a Houston strip club and married him in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. Marshall died the following year and Smith spent much of the following decade battling members of his family over his estate. In May 2006 the US Supreme Court ruled that Smith could pursue her case in federal court.

Smith, who modelled Guess jeans, was named Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Year in 1993 and had film roles the following year in The Hudsucker Proxy and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult.

Kylie Minogue's ex-boyfriend, Olivier Martinez, has been spotted in the arms of yet another woman, this time it's actress Penelope Cruz. Britain's Daily Mirror made a meal of photographs showing the French actor in an embrace with the Hollywood star at a Los Angeles hotel 12 hours after ending his four-year relationship with Minogue.

But the pictures, carried on the paper's front page with the headline "Kylie Cad Cruz Schmooze" and in a double-page spread, only show Martinez and Cruz sharing what appears to be a friendly hug. Cruz, who was at the Chateau Marmont hotel for lunch with three female friends, reportedly shrieked with delight when she saw Martinez. An unnamed source criticised the Frenchman for being so brazen after he and Minogue announced their split at the weekend.

"Does he really have to rub Kylie's nose in it?", the source said. Martinez has been seen at the same hotel in recent days with Israeli model Sarai Givati, Lost star Michelle Rodriguez and a mystery brunette. Minogue is due to attend the opening of an exhibition of her costumes, accessories and photographs at London's Victoria and Albert Museum tomorrow. The exhibition has come under fire from British art and culture critics who have questioned the artistic value of a show devoted to a pop star, claiming it is too populist.

Olivier Martinez dumped Kylie Minogue by phone just hours before stepping out in Los Angeles with a mystery woman, a British newspaper claimed. News of the Australian singer's split from her boyfriend of four years emerged this weekend when the pair released a joint statement saying their decision to go their separate ways was mutual and amicable.

The Sunday Mirror reported Martinez wept to his parents, Rosemarie and Robert, in France after calling Minogue, who is in Mexico, to end their relationship on Friday morning US time. "I still feel for her but I'm no longer in love with her," the French actor, who is in Los Angeles, reportedly told his parents. "We have been having a lot of rows. We have outgrown each other." His mother was quoted as saying she and the actor's father were "devastated" by the news. "It is terrible and we hoped they had a future together," she told the paper. "Olivier was dreadfully upset."

According to the Mirror, Martinez was spotted in LA just hours later with a mystery brunette. They apparently spent three hours at actress Salma Hayek's mansion before Martinez returned to Hollywood's Chateau Marmont hotel. The woman was said to have gone to the same hotel a short time later. The night before, he was seen having dinner with Sarai Givati, the Israeli model he was photographed with in Paris in November. On Wednesday night, he reportedly met Lost star Michelle Rodriguez, with whom he has been seen in LA recently. An unnamed source told the paper it was as though Martinez had tried to provoke Minogue into dumping him "to avoid being labelled 'the cad who dumped Kylie after her cancer struggle'". "Now, he has dumped her - down a telephone line," the source said. "He couldn't even do it face-to-face."

The story conflicts with that of another British tabloid, the News of the World, which claimed it was Kylie who dumped Martinez. Minogue, who has just completed her comeback tour after recovering from breast cancer, is due in Britain on Tuesday for the launch of an exhibition of costumes, accessories and photographs celebrating her career at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. For a woman who has made an art of controlling her own destiny, it was a surprisingly haphazard break-up strategy. But then it is safe to say that this time last week Kylie Minogue did not envisage waking so publicly and unequivocally single. That was only ever Plan B. Six days ago, when she was photographed alone in the Palladian nightclub in Acapulco the prospect of singledom was only a notion dangled misguidedly before her then-boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez.

Kylie, 38, was supposedly taking a much-needed winter break, while 41-year-old Olivier was in Los Angeles promoting his latest film Blood And Chocolate. As the pictures of Kylie dropped on the screens of picture agencies across US, her message was clear: "Olivier, if you want to be with me, come and get me". It was desperation disguised as bravado. And it did not work. It was only then that Plan B swung into action.

Late on Friday the couple issued a cooly phrased joint statement that their relationship was over. The decision was described as "mutual and amicable". More apt, perhaps, would have been "inevitable". However much sadness accompanies the end of this four-year relationship - which encompassed the awful reality of Kylie's breast cancer and 18 months of exhausting treatment - the simple fact is that, for Olivier at least, the split is a relief. And the reality that has come crashing down on Kylie is not some belated recognition that she and Olivier were profoundly incompatible. Rather it is the realisation that he has fallen for somebody else. Sarai Givati, 24, is the woman in question. And the alleged relationship between the Israeli actress and Olivier pre-dates the first photos of them together in December. Then, when Olivier squired her around Paris for three days and, she blushingly recounted, "three wonderful nights", Kylie responded by wearing a leather jacket with Olivier's picture emblazoned on the back during the final concert of her Australian comeback tour in November. It was a gesture that backfired badly, serving only to crystallise the difference between the two: Kylie's mode of communication with her lover was so very public, whereas, according to one close childhood friend: "Ollie has always been uncomfortable with that side of fame. "He has no problem being recognised but he's never wanted to talk about his relationships in public." He was, it seems, as challenged and intrigued by Sarai as he was frustrated by Kylie. The friend explains: "Kylie thought he was the one and adored him. But he's been irritated by her efforts to portray him as a family man who wants to go home to his pipe and slippers every night. That's not him at all." Blunt sentiments perhaps. But Kylie and Olivier's incompatibility has always been a source of concern to her friends and family and bemusement to his. In truth, the couple who began dating in February 2003 have been drifting apart for a long time. Indeed, after the first flurry of passion, Olivier seemed in danger of straying and was linked with Angelina Jolie.

According to one source, Olivier had planned to end their relationship before her cancer diagnosis in May 2005 but felt unable to abandon her during that time. "He thought it important to help her through her illness," the source said. "But they were just never together. Even when Kylie turned up in Paris you never saw her with Ollie." Against this backdrop, the hammer blow was dealt to Kylie's hopes of a future with Olivier when he found Sarai. Kylie's desire for a heart-to-heart was only satisfied by her abandoning plans for a family Christmas in Australia and boarding a flight to Paris to be with him. But she was too late. Pictures showing Olivier enjoying a kiss and dinner with actress Michelle Rodriguez last weekend were, it seems, simply a smokescreen to protect his fledgling relationship with Sarai, suggesting that he possesses a sensitivity to Sarai's feelings. Little wonder then that Kylie's parents, Ron and Carol, have long voiced their reservations over Olivier. Their anxieties reached a new pitch when consideration for Olivier became a key factor in Kylie's decisions about her cancer treatment.

A family friend explained: "When Ollie stayed at the family home after she came home from surgery, everything had to revolve around him. He went back to Europe saying he was sick of hospitals. Then he insisted Kylie continued treatment in Paris. It caused a family rift ... but Kylie did what he wanted. "Her parents felt Olivier had too strong a hold over Kylie and questioned his commitment to her. They are sad that Kylie now has to deal with a broken heart on top of everything else, but they are relieved that the public humiliation is over." They are not alone and nor, though she may struggle to feel convinced of the fact right now, is Kylie. Minogue has no immediate plans to return home to Australia following her split with her boyfriend, according to a spokesman.

The singer and French actor Olivier Martinez have officially confirmed they are no longer a couple. A joint statement released on behalf of the pair said the decision to separate was mutual and added they remained "very close friends". Last November Minogue told Elle magazine: "Olli was there all the time, helping with the practical stuff and being protective. I don't like to say too much in public about Olivier as he's a very private person, but I will say that he was incredible. "He didn't hesitate in cancelling work and putting projects on hold so he could be with me. He's the most honourable man I have ever met."

Paris Hilton Sues Website

Paris Hilton filed a federal lawsuit, seeking to shut down a Web site that displays personal photos, videos, diaries, and other belongings once kept at a storage facility. The Web site was launched last week claiming the items were auctioned off after Hilton neglected to pay the Los Angeles-area storage facility. It also promises visitors who pay a fee of $39.97 access to Hilton's passport, medical records and other legal documents.

In her lawsuit, Hilton said she put her possessions in storage two years ago when she and her sister, Nicky, moved out of a house that had been burglarized. The 25-year-old heiress said a moving company was supposed to pay the storage fees and was "shocked and surprised" to learn her belongings were sold at a public auction. "I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting me and my sisters' private personal belongings for commercial gain," Hilton said in a declaration supporting the lawsuit, adding she was concerned the information could be used for identity theft or harassment. The lawsuit alleges defendants Nabil and Nabila Haniss paid $2,775 for the contents of the storage unit and later sold the items for $10 million to entrepreneur Bardia Persa, who created the site ParisExposed.com.

Phone numbers for Nabil and Nabila Haniss of Culver City could not be located. Persa did not immediately respond to an e-mail Monday seeking comment. Hilton's publicist Elliot Mintz said that she would like the site shut down and "would like all of these items returned to her."

We shouldn't look at these photos and judge Eva for appearing in them (although we all knew this time would come sooner or later). Stripping completely of all their clothes and then posing for a famous magazine is something most women in showbiz do. It's a common practice by now and, the bigger the magazine that asks them to do it and the bigger the sum offered for each item of clothing taken off, the bigger a star they are.

It's a fact of life by now: we can say, we are human, we are born, we grow, have children, then age and fade away. Then, we could take this, change it a bit and then apply it to female celebrities (and sometimes men, too): we breakthrough into showbiz, we ascend, we pose naked, we ascend some more and then we fade away. See? A fact of life!

Returning to the photos, I say we should totally congratulate Eva (and Photoshop, of course) for doing this photo shoot! It's one of the hottest I have seen recently and I swear I will never look at chains the same way I did until now. So, dears, enjoy and leave the judgment for later!

It's the fourth season of The O.C. and inches to its demise, after US TV channel FOX said today the struggling series will end next month. "This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close," said Josh Schwartz, the show's creator and executive producer. He added: "Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top. It has been an amazing experience and a great run. For a certain audience, at a certain time, The O.C. has meant something. For that we are grateful."

Producers said, starting today, the series will begin a stream of new episodes culminating in the series finale on February 22. The O.C. debuted in the US in August, 2003 and is shown almost concurrently in Australia on the Ten Network and repeated on pay TV. It was billed as a "lighthearted comedy mixed with teen angst" at the start, moving into darker plotlines, which saw the death of its star character Marissa Cooper, played by Mischa Barton, last season. More recently, the real life romance between on-screen lovers Seth (Adam Brody) and Summer (Rachel Bilson) ended, which would have made for awkward moments on the set.

The show followed a group of friends and families whose lives were changed by the arrival of an outsider - Ryan Atwood (played by Benjamin McKenzie) - to their beach community in Orange County, California. Other regular cast members included Peter Gallagher, Tate Donovan, Kelly Rowan, Autumn Reeser and Willa Holland. Australian actor actor Alan Dale played Caleb Nichol for 36 episodes of the series. Among the guest stars were Jeri Ryan, Kevin Sorbo and Kim Delaney. So what now for the cast? Maybe Benjamin McKenzie can focus on Hollywood roles playing Russell Crowe's son? Meanwhile, Adam Brody can begin work on a John Mayer biopic, perhaps?

It appeared as if "she was being dragged as she wasn't walking under her own speed" said one eyewitness. "It looked as if they wanted to get her up to her hotel room as soon as possible." At 2AM this morning, an ambulance was summoned to the hotel but it was totally unclear if it was brought to Caesars for Britney.

Britney Spears has apparently decided that Kevin Federline's 15 minutes of fame are up. The pop star filed for divorce on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court from her husband of two years, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to her court documents. Spears, 24, requested physical and legal custody of the couple's two sons, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month-old Jayden James, with visitation rights for Federline, 28. She waived her right to spousal support (a no-brainer) and requested that each party pay their own legal fees.

Spears listed the date of the couple's separation as Monday, the very same day she made a surprise appearance on Late Night with David Letterman to show off her newly slim figure. Interestingly enough, Spears listed the date of her marriage as Oct. 6, 2004, meaning that the Sept. 18, 2004, wedding featured in a People magazine spread and the subject of much controversy at the time was in fact not the real deal. A representative for Spears had no comment on the split. Both Spears and Federline have been in New York in recent days, but Spears tellingly avoided all promotional events for the release of her now-estranged husband's CD.

Just last week, Federline told the Associated Press that he and Spears had a "love-at-first-sight-type deal" that had yet to fade. "I've been in relationships since I was 13 years old, so I know what I want," he said. "Her personality and her attitude and all that stuff, it really works. I don't know how sometimes, but it really works." During an emotional interview with Dateline in June, Spears was similarly complimentary of Federline, calling her marriage "awesome" and stating that he was an "amazing" husband.

But somewhere between the birth of the couple's second son on Sept. 12 and the release of Federline's debut album on Oct. 31, the relationship apparently went downhill, at least as far as Spears was concerned. In addition to any upcoming court commitments, the soon-to-be single mother-of-two will be keeping busy on the professional front. Spears is readying a musical comeback, with her fifth studio album, Fear Within, due out next year. With marriage number two coming to an end, hopefully Spears will give it some time before walking down the aisle again. Her first ill-advised marriage, to childhood friend Jason Alexander, fell apart after only 55 hours. She wed Federline eight months later.

Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan are about to have something in common. Scarlett has signed a deal to make her first record. "Scarlett Sings Tom Waits" is being recorded now and through the winter, with a possible release next spring from Rhino Records' recently reactivated Atco label.

The eventual release date will be coordinated with Johansson's movie schedule. Fear not, though. Unlike some other recent pop tarts, Scarlett — who turns 22 next month — can actually sing; she is no Paris Hilton. Also, her choice of material is a tad more sophisticated. She's making a whole album of songs by Tom Waits, one of the premier singer-songwriters in the business. Let's just hope the whole thing won't get "lost in translation." But my spies say that Scarlett has a lovely, whispery delivery that carries a tune nicely and is suited to Waits' unusual lyrics.

Actress Scarlett Johansson has denied sleeping around but admits it is hard to stay faithful to one man. The 21 year old star - recently voted the sexiest woman alive by Esquire magazine - admitted she has a HIV test twice a year. Johansson, admired for her hour glass figure, said: "There does seem to be a mistaken belief out there that I am sexually available somehow which is not to say that I'm not open-minded about sex. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not promiscuous. Yet I wouldn't say I'm a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single. But when I'm in a relationship, I'm in a relationship."

The actress said she was happy in her current relationship with actor Josh Hartnett, adding: "He's a good boy. A great person. I'm very lucky and I'm very happy." Johansson and her boyfriend Hartnett met while filming "The Black Dahlia", the story of an infamous murder in 1940s Los Angeles. The actress says she undergoes AIDS/HIV tests twice a year and said people who fail to take the necessary health precautions are irresponsible. "I get tested for HIV twice a year. One has to be socially aware," she said. "It's part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It's just disgusting behavior when people don't. It's so irresponsible."

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker have split up, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. "They did break up. It's amicable," the source says, adding, "They are talking and trying to figure the best course of action for their future. They are trying to work things out."

"It's distance and demanding careers and not living in same city," said the source. "It didn't happen yesterday. It's been going on for a while." In an earlier statement issued by Longoria's rep Liza Anderson on Friday, she said, "Eva and Tony are going through a very difficult time right now, just like any other couple with extremely demanding careers." However, a source close to Parker told PEOPLE earlier Friday that Parker said rumors of a breakup were not true.

While Desperate Housewives has been filming in Los Angeles, the San Antonio Spurs departed Texas on Friday afternoon to begin a training camp in France. Before leaving, Parker joined his team at a "media day" for sportswriters near the San Antonio International Airport, though he did not discuss his relationship with Longoria.

Longoria, 31, and Parker, 24, met in November 2004 and, though they played coy at first, by August 2005, Longoria had confirmed they were a couple, asking PEOPLE, "What's not to like?" In April, Longoria told PEOPLE she is happiest when in a relationship. "There's no way in the world I would rather be single," she said. "Tony is too. I've said the only reason Tony and I are going to stay together forever is because we're too lazy to look for someone else."

Can Travis Barker really make women go this crazy? His estranged wife, Shanna Moakler, was involved in a nightclub fracas with Paris Hilton early Wednesday morning. Allegedly, Shanna Moakler hit Paris Hilton.

Barker, the drummer for Blink-182, filed for divorce in August from Moakler, a former beauty queen who was recently voted off Dancing With the Stars. In September, Barker was apparently videotaped kissing Hilton, who needs no introduction. Then Hilton encountered Moakler at the Hyde club in Hollywood last night. The following re-enactment is based on reports by police, publicists for both women, but unfortunately no pugilistic experts: Hilton says Moakler walked up to her, "used the most vile of language" and then punched her in her jaw. Moakler contends she exchanged mere profanities with Hilton, at which point Hilton's ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos emerged from the entourage, bent Moakler's wrists, poured a drink on her and shoved her down some stairs. Hilton, 25, and Moakler, 31, both filed police reports alleging battery. Officer Karen Smith said police took pictures of Moakler and Hilton at the station, and that police planned to speak with witnesses at the club as part of their investigation. Moakler and the tattooed punk rocker Barker were an unlikely pair when they married in 2004, documenting their lavish wedding and life on the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers. They had two children. Moakler also has a 7-year-old daughter with boxer Oscar De La Hoya. TMZ.com posted what it said was video of Barker and Hilton making out in a New York nightclub last month. But Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, said the two are "just friends."
