Australian Idol Down To Two

Australian Idol pin-up boy Dean Geyer has become the latest contestant to be eliminated from the competition. But the South African-born with model looks is set to be signed by record company Sony, with judge Mark Holden telling Geyer he would "definitely" get a recording deal. Geyer's departure from the show leaves Irishman Damien Leith and 17-year-old Jessica Mauboy to battle it out in the series grand final at the Sydney Opera House.

Geyer, a favourite with the ladies, said he was grateful to have gone so far in the competition. "I've had the best time. I never ever expected I'd get here," he said following his elimination. "It would have been nice to go to the Opera House but these guys (Leith and Mauboy), I have so much respect for them, I hear them every day in the house, singing in the house, and honestly they're going hard." Holden told Geyer he had been contacted by Sony executives who "loved" the 20-year-old Victorian's style. "... they are definitely going to offer you a deal mate," Holden told Geyer to loud applause and cheers from the audience.
